CHIPPING

(Nicks, Stone Pecks, Chips, Bruises)

Small areas of damage to the paint film leaving a nick, notch or void in the finish.

CAUSE

  1. Loss of adhesion of the paint film to the substrate caused by an impact from stones or other hard objects.

REPAIR

  1. Sand and featheredge damaged areas to remove chips, then refinish.

PREVENTION

  1. Use premium two component undercoat and topcoat system.
  2. Use a flex agent in undercoat and/or topcoat system in areas that are prone to chipping.
