WATER SPOTTING
(Water Marking)
Circles with raised edges or whitish spots resembling the various shapes of water droplets appear on the surface of the paint film.
CAUSE
- Allowing water to come into contact with a finish that is not thoroughly dried/cured.
- Washing finish in direct sunlight.
REPAIR
- Wipe with a damp cloth, then polish.
- Or, compound and polish.
- Or, sand smooth with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper, compound and polish to restore gloss.
- Or, sand and refinish.
PREVENTION
- Do not allow water to come into contact with newly painted finish
- If a new finish does get wet, dry immediately with a soft cloth.
- Wash new finishes in the shade and wipe dry.
