Sherwin booth at CONEXPO

Being a supplier at a show like CONEXPO has its advantages and disadvantages. We knew our prospects wouldn’t necessarily be actively searching for a new paint supplier during the week of the show, but that gave us freedom to network and observe what businesses around the world are doing to improve their business.


The first thing we noticed was the new equipment and technology. CONEXPO was not just a place to congregate with similar people, but it was a summit of industry achievements. Even when attendees approached our booth a common question was, “what’s new?” Even though we did not provide ground breaking news, our presence at the show did bring us some attention.


Visitors to our booth witnessed new videos, took away literature, and had problems solved by our experts. If we couldn’t answer questions, we scanned their badge and promised to follow up. It dawned on us that each exhibitor was at the show to engage and go home with quality leads. Because of that, our second take away is to prepare your email accounts and standby your phone! If you walked the show, you most likely got scanned a few dozen times and each company has their own agenda and follow-up protocol.


Our last take away was a realization of how powerful a well organized show can be. From the app, website, literature, education events and staff – CONEXPO did it right. We were all impressed with how easy it was to navigate and find who we were looking for. It may be 3 years away, but we are already excited for the next show!
